Laurentian Bank Shifts Focus to Specialty Commercial Banking Amid Restructuring
Laurentian Bank of Canada (TSX:LB) is undergoing significant transformation to shift its focus towards specialty commercial banking. The bank has been executing this strategy since 2026, exiting retail and small-and-medium-enterprise operations in connection with transactions involving National Bank of Canada and Fairstone Bank.
Despite reported net income of $1.5 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, adjusted net income came in at $28.0 million, or $0.51 per diluted share on an adjusted basis. The difference reflects adjusting items tied to the announced transactions.
Laurentian Bank declared a quarterly dividend of $0.47 per common share, payable October 30, 2026, maintaining continuity for income-focused shareholders. CEO Éric Provost emphasized the significant work of the bank's teams and continued support for customers navigating the transition.
