Leu Depreciates Ahead of Vote on Mureșan Government as Euro Approaches Record

The Romanian leu has continued its downward trend, depreciating on Monday ahead of the parliamentary vote on the Mureșan Government. According to the National Bank of Romania's official exchange rate, one euro is now valued at 5.2786 lei, just 0.0002 lei below the historic record of 5.2788 lei reached last week.

The political uncertainty surrounding the government's investiture procedure appears to be putting pressure on the foreign exchange market, causing the leu to lose value against the euro. The current exchange rate is a benchmark for Monday and any move above 5.2788 lei per euro would mark a new historic record for the European currency against the leu.
