Lexus Software Upgrade Boosts RZ 500e Power by 41 HP

Lexus has introduced a software upgrade for its Japan-spec RZ 500e models built from December 2025, which raises output from 250 to 280 kW and adds eight virtual gears.

The upgrade, called Performance Upgrade Boost + Interactive Manual Drive, is available since December 2025 and costs 220,000 yen including tax, parts, and installation in Japan.

The update changes the powertrain control software, increasing the maximum system output of the RZ 500e from 250 to 280 kW, roughly from 340 to 381 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h improves from 5.3 to 4.6 seconds, while Lexus says the driving range remains unchanged.

The Interactive Manual Drive part of the package creates eight virtual ratios, changes drive force according to the selected 'gear', reproduces sound, and adds a tachometer, selected-gear indicator, and shift prompts to the instrument display.
