Liechtenstein: A Hidden Gem in the Alps
The Principality of Liechtenstein is a miniature Alpine country located between Switzerland and Austria. With an area of 160 square kilometres, it has no airport of its own but attracts visitors with its unique combination of Alpine environment and urban area.
The capital city of Vaduz features a pedestrian zone, museums, outdoor art, and views of Vaduz Castle. Visitors can hike on the 75-kilometre Liechtenstein Trail, which covers all 11 municipalities, or take a shorter mountaineering adventure on the 7-kilometre Malbun circular route.
Liechtenstein does not have its own currency; instead, the Swiss franc is used. Indian travellers will need to apply for a Schengen visa to visit the country, which can be done through the Swiss Mission and VFS Global in New Delhi.
