A hearing involving Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook has been pushed back to December 14, 2026, after an initial rescheduling request from her legal team. The special committee, appointed by President Donald Trump, aims to investigate allegations that Cook made false statements related to mortgage instruments. Cook's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, had previously stated in an October 14 letter that the hearing could not proceed until December at the earliest, citing unresolved questions about the committee's investigation.

The rescheduling comes after Trump unsuccessfully attempted to fire Cook in August 2025. It remains uncertain whether Cook will agree to appear at the newly scheduled hearing. The committee was established in early October to probe the allegations, which Cook has denied.

The New York Times first reported the rescheduling, and CNBC has reached out to Lowell for further comment.
