The Canadian dollar continued its downward trend, falling below US$1=C$1.4102 for the first time since July.

This marks a significant drop in value, with the loonie trading at US$0.7091 as of 8:43 a.m. CDT.

The U.S. Dollar Index was up by 0.26 of a point at 100.86, which could be contributing to the Canadian dollar's decline.

Crude oil prices saw an increase on Wednesday, rising after US President Donald Trump met with Iran's delegation at the United Nations General Assembly.
