Loonie Surpasses $0.72 Mark Amid Weak Dollar and Stable Oil Prices
The Canadian dollar has gained strength in recent days, surpassing the US$0.72 mark for the first time this year.
According to data available on Friday morning, the loonie was trading at US$0.7203 or approximately C$1.3883 per US dollar, marking a slight increase from its previous close of US$0.7175 or C$1.3938.
The U.S. Dollar Index also experienced a minor drop of 0.32 points to 99.64, which may have contributed to the Canadian dollar's rise.
In contrast, crude oil prices were relatively stable despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with Brent crude oil trading at US$86.97 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate at US$81.29 per barrel.
