Macquarie First Major Lender to Pass on RBA Rate Hike
The Reserve Bank of Australia has increased the cash rate by another 25 basis points to 4.60%, its highest point since November 2011.
This is the fourth interest rate hike in 2026, following previous hikes in February, March, and May.
Macquarie Bank has become the first major lender to pass on this rate increase to variable rate home loan borrowers.
Effective October 15, Macquarie will raise its variable home loan reference rates by 25 basis points, as well as the ongoing variable interest rates paid on transaction and savings accounts.
