Macron Deploys Troops to Saudi Arabia Amid Rising Market Volatility
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that his country intends to deploy troops to Saudi Arabia to help secure a refinery and crude oil pipeline at Yanbu on the Red Sea. This move is part of France's military role in the region, which has been expanded due to escalating tensions with Iran.
The news comes as global markets are facing mixed signals. While US indices have reached fresh records, European, Asian, Pacific, and Latin American equities are below their earlier-year highs.
Despite this uncertainty, the US Dollar Index (DXY) has rallied above 100 on rising Treasury yields and expectations of further Federal Reserve tightening. This strong dollar is putting pressure on precious metals, which are consolidating under that pressure.
Bitcoin, however, has demonstrated impressive strength by clearing its May high despite a massive $350 million hack on the Bitget exchange. But analysts warn that this breakout remains vulnerable to regulatory uncertainty and broader macroeconomic pressures.
