Manitoba Premier Gives Pipelines a Boost with Support

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew's support for new pipelines has given Canada hope for strengthening its economy and national unity.

Kinew's willingness to back the Northern Shield Energy Corridor, a proposed pipeline that would carry 500,000 barrels of oil per day from Alberta to Ontario, is crucial because almost 500 km of the pipeline would pass through Manitoba.

Kinew has set conditions for his support: Indigenous governments must be onside, workers must be taken care of, and environmental concerns must be addressed.

His stance has been welcomed by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who announced their interest in the pipeline at the Calgary Stampede last month.
