Māori Arts Meet Geothermal Power at Te Puia in Rotorua

Te Puia is a cultural centre in Rotorua, New Zealand that combines Māori arts and geothermal power. The site features the steaming landscape of Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, which includes Pūhutu Geyser. This geyser rises within the grounds and sends hot water and steam above the valley.

The New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute (NZMACI) is based at Te Puia and offers training in wood carving, stone and bone carving, and weaving. The institute has three national schools: Te Whānanga Whakairo Raukau, Te Takapō o Rotowhio, and Te Rito o Rotowhio.
