Mimura Warns Markets to Heed 'Very Clear' Warning on Yen Weakness
Japan's top currency diplomat Atsushi Mimura has urged markets to take seriously the 'very clear' message sent by Tokyo and Washington on the yen. This warning comes after US President Donald Trump raised concerns about yen weakness at a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, as Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama explained on Friday.
The leaders' talks on currencies were unusually detailed, according to Katayama. Mimura emphasized that markets should take the message at face value, signaling his resolve to act against excessive falls in the currency.
