Mining Sector Lifts TSX Composite Amid Gold Price Surge
Canada's main stock index, the S&P/TSX composite, rose significantly on Thursday thanks to gains in the mining sector. The index increased by 382.99 points, reaching a value of 35,874.26.
The Dow Jones industrial average in New York also saw an increase, rising by 316.14 points to 51,778.04. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 index gained 85.95 points to reach 7,637.76, while the Nasdaq composite rose by 439.88 points to 26,418.30.
The Canadian dollar traded at a value of 71.49 cents US compared to 71.70 cents US on Wednesday.
