Moldova Seeks to Leverage Stability into Investment and Growth
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized that Moldova's strong banking sector and economic stability must be leveraged to drive investment and growth. Speaking at an international conference on fiscal space and monetary anchoring, he noted that while the country has made significant progress in European integration, it still faces challenges in transforming stability into economic development.
Tofan highlighted the importance of increasing productivity and competitiveness, citing a need for more investment, better infrastructure, higher exports, and a developed capital market. He stressed that economic convergence with the EU requires a productive economy and a strong Republic of Moldova.
The Prime Minister outlined his vision for a more prosperous future, where people's incomes approach European levels and productivity matches those of the EU. He also emphasized the need to maintain fiscal discipline and allocate resources towards investments that strengthen the economy's resilience to external shocks.
