Moldova's Foreign Exchange Market Stabilizes Amid Summer Inflows
The National Bank of Moldova reported that the foreign exchange market has stabilized in June 2026, with net demand for foreign currency from economic agents covered by net supply from individuals at a rate of 96.9%. This is an improvement from May's coverage rate of 91.1%.
According to the National Bank, the increase in net supply of foreign currency from individuals was due to a seasonal surge in inflows ahead of the summer vacation season. The bulk of these inflows consisted of euros and dollars, which helped keep the Moldovan currency's exchange rate stable.
The official exchange rates remained relatively stable throughout June, fluctuating between 20.13-20.16 MDL per EUR and 17.80-17.85 MDL per USD. The regulator noted that it did not intervene in the local foreign exchange market during this period.
