Montana Homebuyers Face Higher Mortgage Rates in Post-Fed Market
The Federal Reserve's recent rate hike is expected to further strain an already challenging housing market in Montana.
Lending expert Kate Wood warned that while a direct impact on mortgage rates is not immediate, rates have been rising ahead of the Fed's announcement.
'It's looking like we are going to be in a higher-for-longer rate environment,' said Wood. 'So potentially looking at one or even two additional rate hikes from the Fed this year.'
This shift could lead to higher monthly payments for homebuyers, reducing their purchasing power and making it more difficult to afford homes, especially given Montana's high home prices.
Wood advised prospective buyers not to wait for a potential market turnaround but instead consider moving forward with a purchase if they find a suitable home at today's interest rates.
