MOU Offers Canada Best Chance to Reverse Lost Ground
Cenovus Energy's Executive Vice-President of Corporate Development and Chief Sustainability Officer Jeff Lawson believes that Canada's best chance to reverse a decade of lost ground lies in implementing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Ottawa and various provinces.
Lawson, who has a clear view of what regulatory delays cost, sees the MOU as an opportunity for Canada to become more competitive, with real growth from its energy sector that will make massive contributions to the Canadian economy.
The new MOU aims to introduce incentives for investment, increase certainty of rules, and streamline regulatory requirements. Lawson supports this effort, stating that it will be more successful if the industry works alongside governments.
