Naira Appreciates Against US Dollar, Pound, Euro Amid Improved FX Market Liquidity

The Nigerian naira has gained against major currencies at the official foreign exchange market. According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira appreciated by 22 kobo or 0.02% against the US dollar on Monday, September 14, 2026, to close at N1,326.30/$1.

This gain follows a 35.8% drop in foreign exchange turnover at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM) to $95.61 million on Monday from $148.84 million recorded in the previous trading session.

The naira also strengthened against the British pound and euro, appreciating by N5.70 against the pound to close at N1,786.13/£1, compared with N1,792.52/£1 previously, and gaining N13.75 against the euro to close at N1,529.36/€1, compared with N1,540.22/€1 in the previous session.
