NBM Strengthens Financial Stability Through ECB Cooperation
The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) has strengthened its financial stability through cooperation with the European Central Bank (ECB), according to Governor Anca Dragu. The meeting between Dragu, ECB's Boris Kisselevsky, and NBM Vice Governor Tatiana Ivanicichina in Brussels discussed a wide range of issues, including banking supervision, payment systems development, and macroeconomic developments.
The discussion also covered the national instant payment system in Moldovan lei (MIA) and its potential integration with European payment systems. Dragu emphasized that Moldova's integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) is a success story demonstrating the country's ability to implement European standards before joining the EU.
The NBM press service stated that the cooperation between the NBM and ECB helps strengthen financial stability and prepare for the next stages of payment system development. Each step increases confidence in the financial system, bringing Moldova closer to the European Union.
