NBU Sets New Exchange Rates with Dollar and Euro in Decline
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has released new official exchange rates for the dollar and euro as of October 1, 2026. The U.S. dollar dropped by 18 kopecks to 44.68 Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH), while the euro fell by 21 kopecks to 50.71 UAH.
This marks a decline in value for both currencies compared to the previous day, September 30. The NBU has attributed the fluctuations to Ukraine's significant trade deficit, which stood at approximately $39.7 billion from January through August 2026.
The country's imports totaled nearly $66.3 billion during this period, while exports reached around $26.6 billion. This gap between imports and exports puts pressure on the foreign exchange market, as demand for foreign currency exceeds inflows from exporters.
