New Zealand Delegation Meets with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister to Boost Apple Horticulture
A delegation from New Zealand met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla on October 1, 2026. The meeting focused on promoting apple horticulture in the state and strengthening its economy.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of apples to Himachal Pradesh's economy and expressed interest in organizing exposure visits for farmers and orchardists from both countries to encourage apple cultivation.
New Zealand is keen to provide technical expertise to promote apple horticulture in Himachal Pradesh, according to the delegation. They also presented a plan for an Apple Horticulture Centre of Excellence to be established in the state.
