New Zealand Dollar Surges as Business Confidence Soars
The New Zealand Dollar has been rising for three consecutive days, trading at around 0.5810 during Asian hours on Thursday.
This uptick is largely driven by a sharp increase in domestic business confidence, as the ANZ Business Outlook Index jumped to 56.1 in July, up significantly from 36.6 in the previous month and reaching its highest level since February.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) is also expected to be hawkish, with markets anticipating a 25-basis-point interest rate increase at the September meeting and projecting rates to reach at least 3.0% by the end of the year, with a peak of 3.5% around mid-2027.
However, TD Securities stated that regional tensions are disrupting critical energy shipping routes, which could limit the upside for the NZD/USD pair.
