New Zealand's Food Inflation Hits 19-Month Low in August
Annual food inflation in New Zealand remained steady at 1.9% in August 2026, marking a 19-month low.
This rate of increase is unchanged from July and represents the softest rise since December 2024.
The largest contributor to this annual increase was meat, poultry, and fish prices, which rose by 3.4%, following a slower pace in July.
Grocery food prices also accelerated slightly, increasing by 1.7% after a 1.6% gain the previous month.
