Niue Commemorates 75 Years of Chabad Leadership with Rare Silver Coin

A new silver coin from Niue commemorates the 75th anniversary of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson's leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch. The coin features a portrait of the Rebbe, the façade of 770 Eastern Parkway, a radiant menorah, and material from a dime that the Rebbe personally distributed.

The coin's design is a result of six months' work by Italian artist Sandra Deiana, who drew inspiration from period photographs and accounts from people who knew the Rebbe. The coin has a maximum mintage of 5,786 pieces, which corresponds to the Hebrew year 5786, and carries a face value of one New Zealand dollar.

For collectors, the coin's significance extends beyond its numismatic value. It represents a connection to Jewish history and tradition, as well as a celebration of the Rebbe's mission to 'spread the light' through Chabad's outreach model and system of shluchim (emissaries).
