NZ Economy Grows 0.2% in Q2 Amid Middle East Crisis
New Zealand's economy expanded by a modest 0.2% in the second quarter of 2026, according to official data released on Thursday.
The gross domestic product (GDP) increase was better than analysts' forecast of a rise of 0.1%, but still slower than expected due to the crisis in the Middle East.
Annual GDP increased by 2.6%, which was above the market's expectation of a 2.2% rise, Statistics New Zealand data showed.
