NZ Passes Landmark Law Requiring Building Safety Overhaul

New Zealand has made significant strides in earthquake safety with the passage of a law reforming building rules. Parliament unanimously approved the legislation, which is expected to save Kiwi building owners and the New Zealand economy $8.2 billion.

According to Building and Construction Minister Simon Watts, this 'significant reform' will have far-reaching benefits for the country's building industry. The Government announced that thousands of buildings are no longer considered earthquake-prone as a result of the new law.
