NZD Steady Amid Weaker USD Ahead of Fed Decision
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) remains steady against the US Dollar (USD), trading around 0.5790 on Monday, virtually unchanged from the previous day. Despite a weaker Greenback, the pair is struggling to extend its rebound due to investor caution ahead of the Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy decision on Wednesday.
The USD is weakening as diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran have reduced demand for safe-haven assets. The improvement in market sentiment has also led to a sharp decline in oil prices, easing US inflation concerns and reinforcing expectations of monetary easing by the Fed. US Treasury yields are moving lower, adding further pressure on the USD.
The NZD's outlook remains relatively supportive, with stronger-than-expected inflation data reinforcing expectations that the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) will deliver another rate hike at its September meeting. This more hawkish outlook continues to limit the downside potential for NZD/USD, but investors are reluctant to establish fresh positions ahead of the Fed's policy announcement.
