NZDUSD Gains Momentum as Business Sentiment Improves in New Zealand
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) against the US Dollar (USD) is trading at $0.5626, up 0.51% on the day. The pair is currently above its key moving averages, indicating intraday strength with low volatility near session highs.
A recent NZIER survey reveals a significant shift in business sentiment, with a net 43% of New Zealand firms now expecting business conditions to improve, a sharp rise from just 8% previously. Firms are also moderating the pace of price increases, suggesting inflation pressures remain controlled. This economic optimism and easing inflation could provide underlying support for the NZD if sustained.
Technically, NZD/USD is positioned above the MA-20 and MA-50 on the hourly chart but remains below the longer-term MA-200. The Ichimoku Kijun level at $0.5607 offers immediate support. While the MACD shows strong upward momentum, overbought signals from the Stoch RSI and CCI suggest a possible near-term cooling. The pair is expected to consolidate within a range of $0.5598 to $0.5654 in the coming days, with a 73% probability of continuing higher if $0.5654 is breached.
Analysts note that NZD/USD was previously under bearish pressure amid oversold technical conditions. The current setup introduces a short-term bullish tilt due to improving domestic economic data, positioning $0.5654 as a pivotal resistance level that could trigger further upside if surpassed.
