Oil Price Retreat Eases Inflation Concerns, Treasury Yields Decline
Treasury yields dropped across the curve on Wednesday as oil prices retreated, easing concerns about inflation. The 10-year Treasury yield fell to 4.947%, a 2-basis-point decrease from the previous day's close. Brent crude futures also declined, posting a sixth consecutive daily drop and a 9.5% decline since last Tuesday's close.
The energy price pullback is being closely watched as investors assess its impact on inflation. With oil prices down, Treasury yields are moving lower in tandem. The 2-year yield fell to 4.758%, while the 30-year yield decreased by 2 basis points to 5.287%.
Federal Reserve officials' comments will remain a focus for investors, particularly after last week's interest rate hike. Fed Governor Michael S. Barr is set to deliver remarks on Wednesday morning, which may provide insight into the central bank's economic outlook.
