Ottawa Braces for Ambitious Legislation as Parliament Resumes
Ottawa is set to return to action-packed mode as Parliament resumes with a packed agenda for Prime Minister Mark Carney's Liberals.
The legislative docket includes significant legislation aimed at accelerating major project approvals and reducing labor stoppages, which are expected to have an economic impact.
Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon is leading the charge with a bill meant to strengthen the economy. Other bills on deck include the lawful access bill C-22, the budget bill C-31, and legislation prohibiting goods made with forced labor from entering Canada.
The House finance committee will study the 346-page budget bill that would create a standalone Defence Investment Agency with a dedicated minister.
