Pakistani Rupee Strengthens as Major Currencies Decline
The Treasury Management Division of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) released updated exchange rates for major foreign currencies against the Pakistani rupee on Monday. The US dollar saw a slight decline, with selling and buying rates dropping to Rs277.45 and Rs276.95, respectively, compared to Friday’s Rs277.50 and Rs277.00.
The euro and British pound also experienced declines. The euro fell to Rs309.80 for selling and Rs309.24 for buying, down from Friday’s Rs312.29 and Rs311.72. Meanwhile, the British pound decreased to Rs366.08 for selling and Rs365.42 for buying, compared to Rs366.60 and Rs365.94 previously.
The UAE dirham and Saudi riyal also slipped marginally. The dirham dropped to Rs75.54 for selling and Rs75.40 for buying, while the riyal fell to Rs73.90 for selling and Rs73.77 for buying.
Other currencies, including the Japanese yen, Swiss franc, and Canadian dollar, maintained their positions with minor fluctuations. The latest exchange rates reflect a general trend of foreign currencies weakening against the Pakistani rupee.
