Pepper Lands Deputy Reserve Bank Chair Role

Byron Pepper has been appointed as Deputy Chair of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Board. The Finance Minister, Nicola Willis, announced this appointment, praising Mr. Pepper's extensive experience in investment banking and financial services.

Mr. Pepper has served on the Reserve Bank Board since 2022 and was reappointed for a second term commencing on July 1 last year. As Chair of the Reserve Bank's Financial Policy Committee, he played a key role in the Bank's financial policy decision-making and oversight of financial stability.

The Deputy Chair position became vacant after Rodger Finlay's appointment as Chair of the Reserve Bank Board in December 2025. Ms. Willis stated that Mr. Pepper is well-suited for the role due to his global financial market experience, leadership expertise, and understanding of the Board's operations.
