Peso Falls Below 17/Dollar Milestone
The Mexican peso has broken through a major milestone, trading below 17 pesos per U.S. dollar for the first time, according to data from LSEG.
This marks a near-20% surge in the currency since January 2025, driven by a mix of dollar weakness and inflows into Mexican assets, analysts say.
While a stronger peso may lower import costs for Mexico, it can also squeeze exporters' margins, making the currency a double-edged sword.
