Peso Strengthens Near Two-Year High Amid Mexico's Economic Rebound

The Mexican peso strengthened to near its two-year high against the US dollar, trading at around 16.98 per USD.

This appreciation is largely attributed to Mexico's improving economic indicators, including a 2.7% year-over-year increase in industrial production in July, exceeding expectations of 1.8%. Additionally, gross fixed investment rose 7.7% in June, surpassing forecasts for a 4.8% gain.

Banxico's decision to maintain the key interest rate at 6.50% is also seen as supportive of the peso's strength, as it signals a rebound in the economy during the second quarter of this year.
