Peso Tumbles Below 62.9 vs Dollar Amid Rising US Yields
The Philippine peso has hit a new low against the US dollar, weakening past 62.9 pesos per dollar for the first time.
This development comes as benchmark 10-year US Treasury yields climbed to their highest level since October 2023, reaching above 5 percent on Monday.
The rise in US yields makes US assets more attractive to investors, putting pressure on emerging-market currencies like the peso.
