Poilievre Questions EU Benefits and Pushes for Free Trade in Wine

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre addressed concerns about Canada joining the European Union during a recent visit to Penticton. He questioned how this would save Canadians money, given the costs of following EU laws and paying taxes. 'The real problem people have is they can't afford groceries, gas, and housing after 11 years of Liberal inflation,' he said.

Poilievre also spoke about the trade war with the U.S., citing a bill proposed by Dan Albas that would allow Canada Post to deliver Canadian alcohol across provinces. He emphasized that this could add $4 billion to the economy, with most benefits going to the Okanagan region. 'This is a simple, practical way to allow free trade for our beautiful Okanagan wines within Canada,' he said.

Poilievre distanced himself from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, stating that there is no alignment between the Conservative Party of Canada and the Republican Party. He highlighted the need to address problems at home, such as crime and housing affordability, rather than getting distracted by international politics.
