Poilievre Touts United Canada Ahead of Referendum
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre emphasized the importance of a united Canada during a town hall event in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He stated that while there are legitimate frustrations with the federal government, breaking up the country is not the solution.
According to Poilievre, the current economic conditions are among the most expensive periods in Canadian history, with rising costs of food, living expenses, and transportation. He suggested that Ottawa needs to cut spending and cautioned against a weaker Canadian dollar, which he believes poses inflationary risks due to expanded money supply.
Poilievre also discussed trade issues, including the ongoing tariff war with the United States. He stated that Canadians should focus on finding and securing other international trade partnerships, as foreign countries are eager for Canadian oil and gas exports.
