Policymakers Seek Fresh Research on Capital Flows Amid Monetary Shifts
The Bank of England and its partners are seeking fresh research on how capital flows respond to monetary shifts, geopolitical fragmentation, and financial innovation. A joint workshop in Paris on September 29, 2026, will examine policy tools for limiting volatility and related cross-border financial risks.
The seventh annual International Capital Flows and Financial Policies workshop is being held at the OECD headquarters in Paris. The Bank of England, Banque de France, IMF, Banca d'Italia, and OECD are inviting full-paper submissions by April 25, 2026, with selected contributors to be contacted by June 30, 2026.
The research topics include the effects of AI, digital currencies, non-bank institutions, capital flow management during crises, and the potential for cryptos to bypass regulatory measures. The workshop will focus on both cyclical and structural drivers of capital flows, including inflation-driven monetary policy changes in advanced economies, a more fragmented international financial system, and the growing role of non-bank financial institutions.
