Pound Recovers as Dollar Pulls Back Slightly
The British Pound (GBP) showed a slight rebound on Tuesday, rising from the 1.3200 mark amid a modest pullback in the US Dollar (USD). The GBP/USD pair reached a fresh daily high during the European session but remained within a narrow trading range that has persisted for the past two weeks. Currently, the pair is trading around 1.3240, up less than 0.10% for the day.
The USD's slight decline came as traders took profits after a strong rally that pushed the dollar to its highest level since April 2025. This retreat provided some support to the GBP/USD pair. Additionally, market expectations of tighter monetary policy from the Bank of England (BoE) due to persistent inflation driven by high energy prices have bolstered the British Pound.
During the Asian session, the GBP/USD pair continued its consolidative move, staying above the 1.3200 mark. The BoE's anticipated tighter policy stance remains a key factor underpinning the GBP, while the USD's pause after its recent rally acts as a tailwind for the pair.
