The British Pound has continued its recent upward trend against the Japanese Yen, reaching a new high of 212.50 on Wednesday.

This comes after upbeat UK services data for July was revised up to 52.1 from preliminary estimates of 51.8.

Meanwhile, concerns about Japan's fiscal stability have hurt the Yen, particularly following the government's approval of a tax-slashing plan that will cut the consumption tax on food from 8% to 1% for two years starting in April 2027.

The UK services data was released as part of the S&P Global Services Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which is a leading indicator of business activity in the UK's services sector.
