Pound Slides Against Dollar Amid French Fiscal Concerns
The British Pound (GBP) has declined by over 0.19% against the US Dollar (USD) at the start of the week. This drop occurred despite a decrease in US services sector activity and higher US Treasury yields, which typically support the Greenback. At the time of writing, the GBP/USD exchange rate stands at 1.3218.
The Pound has since recovered some of its earlier losses, though it remains down by 0.15%, trading near 1.3220 during European trading hours on Monday. The GBP/USD pair saw a slight rebound as the US Dollar Index retreated from a fresh annual high of 102.53.
The GBP/USD pair is facing selling pressure, with the Pound down 0.26% near 1.3200 during early European trading. The US Dollar is strengthening due to increased safe-haven demand, driven by concerns over France's fiscal situation.
A key support level for the GBP/USD pair is identified near the year-to-date low of 1.3140. This level could be crucial in determining the pair's next move.
