Pound Slides as BoE Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged

The pound weakened yesterday after the Bank of England's decision to leave interest rates unchanged at its September policy meeting.

Despite this, Sterling's losses were limited as UK borrowing costs declined following the bank's announcement that it would reduce the pace of its bond-selling programme.

The euro initially struggled on Thursday, with the previous day's rally in the US dollar continuing to weigh on the single currency. The Eurozone's latest consumer price index showed inflation had been revised slightly lower in August, contributing to the subdued sentiment around the euro.
