Pound Sterling Climbs as BoE Member Warns of Embedded Inflation
The Pound Sterling gained around 0.40% on Tuesday, as the US Dollar retreated from its multi-month highs. This upward movement was supported by hawkish remarks from a member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, which suggested that inflation remains deeply rooted in the economy. Additionally, a widening US trade deficit contributed to the Greenback's decline. At the time of writing, the GBP/USD pair was trading at 1.3281.
During the first half of the European session, the GBP/USD pair found some buying interest near the 1.3200 mark, reaching a fresh daily high. However, the pair remains within a narrow trading range that has been in place for the past two weeks, currently hovering around the 1.3240 region, up less than 0.10% for the day.
On Monday, the British Pound had experienced a decline of 0.26%, dropping near the 1.3200 level against the US Dollar. The selling pressure was attributed to the USD's strong performance, driven by increased safe-haven demand due to concerns over French fiscal policies.
A key support level for the GBP/USD pair is identified near the year-to-date low of 1.3140, which could act as a crucial indicator for future price movements.
