Pound Treads Water Near July Low Amid Retail Sales Resilience
The British pound has remained near its weakest level since late July, trading at around $1.337 on Friday.
This follows stronger-than-expected retail sales figures for August, which rose by 0.5% despite expectations of a 0.2% decline.
The Bank of England's decision to hold interest rates steady and stop selling long-dated gilts under its quantitative tightening programme has also contributed to the pound's stability.
