Qalibaf Urges Iran and Iraq to Ditch US Dollar
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has urged Tehran and Baghdad to conduct bilateral trade using their national currencies, rather than the US dollar. During a meeting with Iranian and Iraqi businesspeople at the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad on Thursday, Qalibaf emphasized that 'today, we can conduct trade using national currencies and deal a blow to the US dollar.'
Qalibaf claims that the era of US dominance over the world has ended, but notes that Iran and Iraq have failed to take advantage of emerging opportunities. He argues that the two nations continue to conduct trade using methods dating back 50 years.
The Iranian Speaker also addressed the issue of 'cognitive and economic warfare' waged by Washington and Israel against Tehran. He rejected claims that Iran is seeking war, stating that those who have experienced conflict understand the value of peace more than those who merely speak about it.
