Qantas Sells Jetstar Japan Stake for $74 Million Gain
Qantas has finalized its divestment of Jetstar Japan, selling its 33.3% stake to Development Bank of Japan for JPY8.2 billion ($74 million). The transaction is expected to deliver an estimated gain of $115 million to Qantas earnings in FY27.
The sale follows a non-binding memorandum of understanding announced by Qantas in February. Existing shareholders, including Japan Airlines and Tokyo Century, will maintain their positions after the divestment.
Jetstar Japan will be rebranded from 'Jetstar' following the acquisition of its shares by Development Bank of Japan.
