Quant Surges as Banking System Adopts Blockchain Tech
Quant (QNT) has surged approximately 300% over the past week, reaching above $270 with 24-hour trading volume exceeding $600 million. This significant price movement can be attributed to a major announcement by The Clearing House (TCH), which selected Quant as its technology provider for the 'On-Chain Money Initiative'. Two days later, seven major UK banks successfully completed the world's first real customer payment transactions using tokenized pound sterling deposits via the Quant platform.
The partnership between TCH and Quant is a significant step towards global programmable money transformation. Gilbert Verdian, founder of Quant, described it as 'a decisive step'. The Clearing House clears and settles over $2 trillion daily, operating the core payment networks of the US banking system: RTP (Real-Time Payments) and CHIPS (Clearing House Interbank Payments System). Twenty-five major US banks are participating in this initiative, with an expected launch in the first half of 2027.
Quant operates as an interoperability layer that enables different blockchains and legacy systems to communicate and transact with each other. In the context of bank tokenized deposits, Quant provides an 'orchestration layer' that coordinates the clearing and settlement processes of tokenized deposits across various banking systems while maintaining compatibility with existing RTP and CHIPS payment rails.
