The National Hockey League (NHL) has been searching for an owner to bring back the Quebec Nordiques, but so far, no one has stepped forward with a plan to pay the price of ownership. According to NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, the main issue is finding someone willing to invest in a franchise long-term.

Daly spoke on The Eye Test Podcast and emphasized that the league's expansion plans are moving forward, but Quebec City remains stuck. He stated that the league has been exploring options for at least ten years, including when it was simultaneously evaluating Las Vegas, which is now nine seasons into its existence as an NHL franchise.

When asked if the sliding Canadian dollar was a roadblock to expansion, Daly dismissed the idea, saying 'I don't think that's how we viewed it.' He acknowledged that the currency fluctuations may present some challenges but assured that the league is not considering them a gating factor for expansion.
