Queensland Businesses Face Higher Costs as Interest Rate Hits 4.6%
Regional businesses in Queensland, Australia are raising prices for customers due to increasing costs and higher interest rates. The Reserve Bank of Australia raised the key interest rate to 4.6%, its highest level since 2011.
Nick Coon, owner of a family organic egg production business, said that previous increases had increased his monthly mortgage payments by about A$1,000. He noted that servicing existing loans and obtaining new loans for equipment has become more difficult due to rising costs.
