Queensland Surpasses Tourism Projections with Record-Breaking Visitor Spend
Queensland's tourism industry has seen significant growth, surpassing projections from the Crisafulli Government's Destination 2045 plan. The state's visitor economy reached $45.6 billion in the year ending June 2026, a $1.4 billion increase above projections.
The strong performance is driven by international tourism, with 2.4 million international visitors spending $8.1 billion across the State. This represents a 28.4 percent year-on-year growth in international visitor expenditure, more than double the national average of 15.6 percent.
China remains Queensland's largest international market, with travellers spending $1.6 billion, up 83.6 percent year on year. New Zealand and the United Kingdom also recorded significant growth, with expenditures of $956.1 million and $620.9 million respectively.
